Best accessories for the Google Pixel 9a Geeking Out 2025

The Google Pixel 9a was released in April of 2025 and somehow managed to shave $300 off the price of the flagship Pixel 9 while maintaining most of that device's best features.

For a great Android experience, practical AI features, and a sleek-looking device, the Pixel 9a is a solid smartphone pick for 2025!

Once you decide the Pixel 9a is going to be your daily driver, you're going to want some useful accessories that will help you enjoy your new phone to the fullest.

We put a lot of thought into this guide. Normally we'd recommend an external/travel battery charger, but with the Pixel's phenomal 30-hour battery life, we ditched it from this guide. While there's no end to premium accessories you could get for your smartphone, if you are using the Pixel 9a, you're probably looking for the best value from your accessories and not things that will break the bank.

Below you'll find our suggestions for accessories that will actually be useful for your new Google Pixel 9a.

Charge Everything!: SwanScout Pixel Charging Station

If you're upgrading from a past Pixel and have accessories like Pixel Buds or a Pixel Watch then give this 3-in-1 charging station from SwanScout a look. It is extremely hard to find a multi-device charger to top up the battery of all your Google devices at once. The SwanScount 703G2 is a beautiful option that works with Pixel 9a, Pixel Watch 2 (and 3), as well as your Pixel Buds (or any earbuds with a wireless charging case). It's great for travelling too because it folds flat for easy transport. You'll have to provide your own charging brick (and we have a recommendation below) but this absolutely the best option we have ever used for charging and displaying our beloved Google gadgets.

Geeking Out Shop Pixel9a Cases Spigen

Show Your Style!: Pixel 9a Clear Case

If you bought your Pixel 9a in either Peony (pink) or Iris (purple) there is NO WAY you should be covering up those beautiful hues with anything other than a clear case. You may think that all clear cases are equal, but this is not true. The lower-cost ones usually skimp on a compound that's added to the plastic and prevents yellowing over time. Spigen's clear cases contiue to be our go-to because they stay clear even after a year of use. You could skimp and save a buck or two with a different brand, but in our opinion, for the minimal price difference, it's just not worth it to get any clear case other than Spigen.

Gaming On The Go: Razer Kishi (V2)

There's no shortage of smartphone controller's for Android. In fact, we've tried most. Between the long battery life and the display supporing up to 120 hz, the Pixel 9a a good phone for gaming. But if you're enjoying titles through PlayStation's Remote app, your Game Pass membership, or anything more advanced than Candy Crush, you'll want a proper controller. We picked the Kishi V2 from Razer because it's a low-cost option to bring real buttons to your phone, transforming it for gaming goodness.

Game On: Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming

We already covered the controller now where do you find good games for your Pixel 9a? Amazon's gaming platform, Luna, is a great place to start. It has a selection of free games (if you're an Amazon Prime member), but the most impressive experience comes when you tap into the Luna+ library. Members access an incredible selection of more than 100 games. There's throwback classics like Earthworm Jim and modern titles like Death Stranding. This is probably best for people who are maybe a year or so behind the console releases (you've heard of the big titles, just never had a chance to try them yet). At the very least sign up for the free trial and then ask Gemini to remind you in 6 days to cancel your subscription.

Geeking Out Shop Amazon Basics 65 W Fast Charger

Pixel Fast Charger: Fast Charger

The Pixel 9a supports fast charging at 23W. Google suggests using a charger of at 45W, but we're gonna take it a step further. If you're about to buy a charger, get a little extra value (even if you have to spend a tiny bit more) and consider this 65W option. Aside from charging your pixel, or pairing with the previously-mentioned SwanScout 3-in-1 stand, this could also be used to charge your laptop in a pintch or a tablet. Plus the prongs fold up, making it easier to take with you when you're on the go.

Extra Cables: Long USB C Cable

All Pixel 9a phones come with a cable. If you're charging your Pixel 9a around the house or on the go, you might need a longer cable. It's handy to have one on the main floor and another in your bedroom, but you can also get one long enough to run behind a couch or tablet to reach an outlet. This two-pack of Amazon Basics cables gives you 6 feet of length. If you have a USB C-style charger, these will be a great option for keeping your Pixel 9 charged. You can also switch to a 9-foot option if you need even more length.

Pixel 9 Wireless Earbuds: Pixel Buds Pro 2

This is the only recommendation we're gonna make that is a pro/premium product. If you saved some cash on the Pixel 9a, and are considering splurging on one luxury tech accessory, make it the the Pixel Buds Pro 2. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are top-notch in our testing. They block out background noise, making your listening experience and phone calls way better. You can customize the controls for tapping and tap-hold on each bud, and you can even adjust the music EQ. They're also super comfortable, so you can wear them for a long time without feeling any discomfort. If you want the best wireless earbud experience with your Pixel phone, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a great choice, even though they're pricey.

Geeking Out Shop Nordvpn Laptop Mockup Image 600x400

Protect Your Pixel's Privacy: NordVPN

The Pixel 9a actually comes with included Google VPN. If you're unfamliar, or only know the phrase VPN as a frustrating thing you connect to for work, you might never consider a VPN for your phone, much-less a paid one. A Virtual Private Network is something your phone connects to in order to protect your data and activities online from snoopers. For a free one, Google's version is better than average. But if you're connecting to public Wi-Fi often, travelling a lot, or want to tap into streaming libraries for Netflix or Disney+ that vary between countries, Nord VPN is as good as it gets for a paid VPN service.

Hopefully you found this guide helpful and there are a few items that will allow you to enjoy your Pixel 9a to the fullest! Of all the things listed, our favourite overall is probably the 3-in-1 stand from SwanScout. If you use the link on our site to order one, you'll get a discount because we worked out a special deal with the company for fans of Geeking Out.

While our primary recommendation for a mobile controller for Pixel 9a is the Kishi Ultra V2, that is based on balancing features for price. If you game a lot and/or also have a small tablet for gaming, then we would suggest you take a peek at our review of the Kishi Ultra. It's much more costly, but with haptics, additional buttons, and a different style of grip, it might be preferable if you're doing a LOT of gaming on your phone.
