Now that the dust has settled since Google revealed (their heavily leaked) hardware news, we've had a few days to sit with the Pixel 9 lineup.

While the phones, their helpful photography features (like Add Me), and their AI integration (Gemini Live works quite slick), definitely took the spotlight, they did overshadow some pretty cool updates to some of the other Pixel products.

Let's catch up on what you might have missed!

Pixel 9 Pro Fold

I know you didnt miss the news about the Fold. Every folding phone gets attention from every brand that's launching them (Samsung refreshed their line in July and OnePlus added a new color variant to theirs in August). But often the same complaints start to roll in. Price. Screen quality. And THICKNESS.

With my brief hands-on time with the Pixel Fold 9 Pro we can definitely say they've eliminated one foldable pain point - thickness.

This is an incredibly thin folding phone. It's just 1.8 mm thicker than the Pixel 9 Pro when folded (and a slim 5.1 mm unfolded). This makes the 9 Pro Fold seem a little less brick-like, particularly if you were already comfortable with the idea of having the 8.5mm Pixel 9 or 9 Pro in your pocket.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the company's second foldable, but the first "pro" model. It hits shelves September 4th. One stand out feature of the outer screen, Made You Look, is a helpful photography feature when snapping pics of toddlers and pets.

Pixel Watch 3

It still looks a little more Fitbit-y than smartwatch but the Pixel Watch 3 has some physical and feature changes that you may have overlooked.

For the first time with a Pixel Watch, we have two size options - 41 and 45 mm options.

The other feature is something that those who have used an Oura ring will be familiar with. The Pixel Watch 3 will be launching with the ability to provide a readiness score. This will be based on a few metrics including your cardio load and sleep habits. Based on your readiness score, you'll have a better idea of the intensity you should approach your day's activities.

Speaking with a Google rep at the launch event, the idea behind the readiness score is more about encouraing rest days, than pushing yourself to go harder, which should ultimately benefit your training routines. And for those with a Fitbit premium membership, your readiness score can influence the recommended training routines for the day.

The Pixel Watch 3 now comes in two different sizes (41 and 45 mm) with a brigher display and a better battery life. Available as of Sept 10th.

Pixel Buds Pro 2

It's hard to tell just by looking at pictures, but there were some subtle changes to the physical design of the Google's wireless earbuds and some pretty powerful changes under the hood.

The fit is slightly different thanks to a small protrusion on the edge of the bud. This allows you to turn your Pixel Buds, sliding the protrusion against the curve of your outer ear canal to provide a more snug fit when you need it (like running outdoors) and a more relaxed fit when you want extra comfort (working at your desk all day).

Google also created their first dedicated audio chip, the Tensor A1, which will support advanced capabilities like Gemini Live (conversational interactions with Google Gemini), even better active noise cancelling, and more efficient battery life (up to 30 hours between the buds and the case).

Google shared so many new innovations with their Pixel 9 lineup (a few stand out features like Made You Look and Add Me are worth learning more about). Between the software, hardware and AI, there's much for Pixel fans to be excited about.
