Peloton is rolling out a new feature to combine reading time and workout time in one place - right on your Peloton device's screen!

If you have a Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Tread+ you can now pull up your Kindle library to peruse some pages while you're sweating away! This union of Peloton and (digital) page is avaialable in Canada, the U.S., the UK, Australia, Austria, and Germany.

Peloton also recently announced the ability to stream AMC+ plus a partnership with Google to bring a number of classes to Fitbit Premium this September

Much like in the Kindle app, you'll be able to adjust font size, add bookmarks, and more. This will be essential, I think, in terms of making the experience of reading while working out a little easier.

Do people actually want this, though?

For an intense or moderate workout, I don't think reading while exercising ends up being very effective.. At least for me. My mind can't stay focused on a book if I'm trying to stay in my target heart rate zone.

However, during a post-workout cooldown I have quite enjoyed having a book to flip through. And if I find myself in an evening scenario where my rings aren't quite closed, and I don't feel like working out too hard, a leisurely cycling session with a good book allowed me to enjoy some reading time while keeping my Move Streak going on my Apple Watch.

I've tried reading on the treadmill and found it easiser to do with a large-screen e-Reader, but much like my experience while cycling, it was more of a "relax/undwind" kinda workout than a "real" workout, ya know?

Of course to access this feature you'll need a Peloton membership as well as a Kindle account. If you're new to the world of Kindle, you might not realize you don't necessarily need a Kindle device to access Kindle books. And with a Kindle Unlimited subscription, you can get access to a massive library of books every month - you can get a free trial of Kindle Unlimited started right here.

If you're looking to maximize your workout time by doubling up activities, or keep comitting to reading more, but never seem to be able to find the time, this could be a helpful solution. Work your brain and your body all in one session.

What do you think? Is this a feature you'd use? Do you read while exercising or prefer to keep the two activities separate? Let me know in the comments section.
